Universal Credit is a government benefit payment designed to help with living costs. It's paid monthly and the claim is usually made online. It replaces the following benefits: Child Tax Credit; Working Tax Credit; Income Support; income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and Housing Benefit.
Anyone needing help to make a new claim for universal credit or with managing while they wait should telephone a local call-back advice line on 01424 869352 and give their details. Advice can be provided over the telephone or face-to-face by appointment. Alternatively you can call the national Help to Claim helpline on 0800 0232581.
